14 DAY CYCLE TOUR FROM KNYSNA TO CAPE TOWN!

Cycle all the way from Knysna to Cape Town in 14 days

DAY 1: Knysna to George
This route follows part of the first major road between Knysna and George. We cycle past smallholdings and dairy farms with small towns like Rheenendal, Karatara along the way. This before descending into Hoekwil and thereafter the Tow River Valley. Then we will crank it along the numerous lakes and lagoons into George.

DAY 2: George to Oudtshoorn
We will go up Montagu Pass, through Herold, traverse Perdekloof and cycle through the changing landscape of the Klein Karoo before our stop in Oudtshoorn.

DAY 3: Oudtshoorn to Calitzdorp via Swartberg Pass
We take the R328 out of Oudtshoorn to the top of the Swartberg Pass. After the descend we ride through Kruisrivier, via Groenfontein and the banks of the Calitzdorp Dam into Calitzdorp.

DAY 4: Calitzdorp to van Wyksdorp
We start in Calitzdorp with the route going over the Rooiberg Pass. After that it’s easy riding to Rooiberg Lodge outside Van Wyksdorp, our place for the night.

DAY 5: van Wyksdorp to Riversdale
We roll through Van Wyksdorp and then a changing Klein Karoo landscape all the way to the bottom of the Garcia Pass, where we hit tar. On the way down, we enjoy a magnificent view of the Overberg. We then continue down to Riversdale

DAY 6: Riversdale to Swellendam
We ride on the foothills of the Langeberg mountains. This section includes some indulating climbs. Thereafter it’s the beautiful Duiwenhoks river crossing and through Buffeljags River in Suurbraak. Once in Swellendam we settle in for the evening at our guest house.

DAY 7: Swellendam to de Hoop via Malgas
Amazing scenery as you cycle past the wheat belt of South Africa. Look out for flocks of our national bird, the beautiful Blue Crane. We will then cross the Breede River on the Malgas Pont, the last hand-pulled one is South Africa. Then on to de Hoop Nature Reserve

DAY 8: de Hoop to Arniston
We will cycle through Bredasdorp to Arniston. You will experience the rugged plains and feast your eyes on the beautiful fynbos, unique to this area. A visit you will always remember.

DAY 9: Arniston to Gansbaai via L'Agulhas
From Arniston, we will cycle to the Southern most point of Africa, L'Agulhas. This is where the majestic Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. Then on to the Great White Shark viewing town of South Africa, Gansbaai!

DAY 10: Gansbaai to Hermanus
We will say goodbye to Gansbaai and follow along a line of cliffs to Die Plaat beach. Here we will cruise along a 20km stretch of open, unspoiled beach all the way to the beautiful seaside villiage of Hermanus.

DAY 11: Hermanus to Gordon's Bay
We will follow the stunning R43 running all the way along the coast to Gordon’s Bay. Along this route with small undulating hills, we will cycle on a broad shoulder. All along the coast taking in breathtaking views of the ocean on the one side and the mountain with all its fynbos and magical splendour taking care of the other side. 

DAY 12: Gordon's Bay to Simons Town
We will cycle from Gordon's Bay, following the coast line past Strand, Muizenberg, Kalkbay, Fish Hoek to Simonstown. Famous for the African Penguin colony nestled there.

DAY 13: Simons Town to Cape Town via Cape Point
Leaving Simons Town we will enter Cape Point Nature Reserve. We will cycle to the most South Western point in Africa. From there we will leave the reserve and pass the beautiful towns of Scarborough, Misty Cliffs, Noordhoek, over Chapmans Peak Drive into Hout Bay. Past Llandudno until we hit the paradise view of the white beaches and crystal waters of Camps Bay.

DAY 14: We will transport those leaving South Africa to Cape Town International airport.
